Compost - Compost
Our compost is far more than decomposed organic matter. It is a living microbial inoculant, carefully crafted to introduce beneficial microorganisms into the soil and support the development of a healthy, thriving soil food web. Every batch is produced using the science and methodology developed by Dr. Elaine Ingham, following a carefully monitored process that encourages the growth of beneficial bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nematodes, and other essential soil organisms.
Unlike conventional compost, which can vary greatly in quality and biological activity, our compost is produced under controlled conditions and is examined in-house using microscopy. Each batch is evaluated according to Soil Food Web standards to verify that the beneficial microorganisms are present in healthy numbers and that undesirable organisms are absent or maintained at acceptable levels. This biological testing allows us to understand what is truly living within the compost, rather than relying on appearance or age alone.
The goal of our compost is not simply to add organic matter to the soil, but to restore the biological community that supports healthy plant growth. As these microorganisms establish themselves, they help cycle nutrients, improve soil structure, retain moisture, and build resilient ecosystems that support stronger, healthier plants.
Whether you are growing vegetables, herbs, flowers, fruit trees, or restoring larger landscapes, our compost provides a living biological foundation that helps transform soil into a vibrant, self-sustaining ecosystem. It is the same compost we use throughout the Living Ground gardens and the foundation upon which we grow our own plants, food, and medicine.
