Description
The Matchstick Bromeliad is an easy-to-grow, cold-hardy bromeliad with glossy green foliage and striking pink flower spikes tipped with purple, resembling little matchsticks.
It grows well in soil or as a semi-epiphyte and readily produces pups, making it easy to propagate. It prefers partial shade, good humidity and well-drained soil. Keep some water in the central rosette and allow the soil to dry moderately between waterings.
It enjoys shade. In my gardens, when it is blooming, people are often amazed at the colors of the flowers that seem to show off as candy’s on a stick.
