Moringa oleifera
Moringa is a fast-growing tropical tree valued for its highly nutritious leaves, young shoots, flowers and seed pods. The fresh leaves have a mild, green flavor and can be added to salads, soups, eggs, sauces, teas or dried and powdered for later use.
The leaves naturally contain protein, minerals, carotenoids, polyphenols and a wide range of plant compounds, making moringa an excellent food plant to have growing close to the kitchen.
Moringa loves warmth, sunshine and well-drained living soil. Once established it grows quickly and responds very well to regular pruning, which encourages a bushier plant and provides a continuous supply of young leaves.
Plant in full sun and enrich the soil with compost and organic matter. Supporting the soil food web around the roots helps the plant access minerals and build the nutrient-dense foliage moringa is known for.
