Creeping St John’s Wort

Creeping St. John’s Wort (Hypericum calycinum) ) is a low-growing woody perennial widely used as a tough, dense ground cover. It features bright yellow summer flowers and spreads rapidly via underground runners, making it popular for landscape management, erosion control, and weed suppression.

Note on Medicinal Use – Unlike its relative Hypericum perforatum (the common medicinal St. John’s Wort used for mood support), Hypericum calycinum is primarily grown for ornamental landscaping and structural utility rather than herbal remedies.

I have not seen this flower in Ecuador, but it does creep along.   We propogate.
