Sacha Inchi

Tropical climbing plant with star-shaped seed pods rich in omega-3 oils. Grows well in warm climates with vertical support. – Planta trepadora tropical con vainas en forma de estrella ricas en aceites omega-3. Crece bien en climas cálidos con soporte vertical. 

Sacha inchi is a perennial Amazonian vine known for its distinctive star-shaped fruits and nutrient-rich seeds. The seeds, sometimes called Inca peanuts, are naturally high in plant protein, Omega 3, Omega 6, Omega 9 and vitamin E.

A beautiful and productive plant for warm climates, sacha inchi grows as a climbing vine and benefits from a trellis or other support. Once established, it produces fruits containing the edible seeds, which can be roasted or pressed to make sacha inchi oil.

We offer sacha inchi plants and seeds for growing at home, making it a wonderful addition to a food garden, permaculture system or edible landscape.

The seeds produce very well as well.    It takes a long time for the vine to mature (about 7-9 months) but once it is established, harvest can be abundant.    We recently harvested one vine plant and made some seasoned nuts for our cafe offerings.   They were yummy.
