Description
Our Sour Lemons are grown right here on our own land at Living Ground, from trees rooted in living soil and cared for as part of the whole garden ecosystem. They are wonderfully tart, fragrant and full of that sharp lemon flavour that wakes up food instantly. We harvest them fresh and use them throughout the kitchen, in drinks, dressings, sauces, preserves, teas and all kinds of preparations.
Lemons are much more than flavour. They are naturally rich in vitamin C and plant compounds found in the juice, pulp and peel. The sourness comes largely from citric acid, which gives lemon its bright, cleansing taste and makes it such a useful food for digestion and mineral-rich preparations. Even the peel is valuable, containing aromatic oils and flavonoids, so I rarely think of a lemon as just juice.
What makes these lemons especially important to us is that they come from our own land. We know the soil they are growing in, we know how the trees are cared for, and we can harvest them when they are ripe and full of flavour rather than picking them for transport and storage. That connection between soil, plant and food is something we value deeply at Living Ground.
These are true sour lemons, bright, acidic and intensely aromatic. Use them wherever you want freshness and acidity, squeeze them over food, add them to mineral drinks and teas, ferment them, preserve them, or use the peel in cooking. They are simple, abundant and one of the most useful fruits we grow.
